Willem Lategan

Willem is a qualified financial advisor (CFP®) and fiduciary practitioner (member of FISA – FPSA®), with more than 20 years of experience in local and international asset management, business structuring and estate planning, as well as multi-generational planning for family businesses. He likes to travel internationally to support family office clients with international structuring and citizenship through investment opportunities.

In addition to his postgraduate qualifications with specialization in asset management, estate planning and business management, he also obtained a postgraduate qualification in theology, equipping him uniquely to integrate spiritual and financial matters.

Willem and his wife, Carin, divide their time between the business’ Free State and Eastern Cape offices. He also enjoys reading business and spiritual books, taking part in triathlons with their daughter, Carissa, and competing with Carin in the 360ONE MTB Challenge in support of the Leave a Lasting Legacy project.

Neels is a chartered accountant and attained his B Compt (Hons) (STR) degree in 1992 at the University of the Free State. He is a registered member of SAICA and IRBA, and although he is no longer a member, he also passed his board exams for CIMA (UK).

Neels has post-graduate diploma in Estate Planning and Administration from UNISA, as well as Financial Planning from the UFS, and is a member of the Financial Planning Institute, giving him the CFP® designation. He completed his articles as trainee accountant at PWC, and since 1997 has filled his father’s shoes as tax partner at the family business, T Roos & Kie. In 2005 he founded the auditors firm, ARC Sakhile Chartered Accountants and Auditors Free State Inc, of which he is still a director. He also serves as director of the national auditors firm, ARC Sakhile Inc.

Hy is married to Elenor (also a chartered accountant) and they have two teenage sons, CF and Innes. Elenor is accountant for Grey College Primary.

Neels’ involvement in RiG grew from his passion for his clients and the absolute belief in the core principles of the business. He has a propensity for tax, estate planning and family business structuring. Willem and Neels have been combining their respective skills and knowledge to provide their clients with holistic and integrated advice for years.

Carin has postgraduate qualifications in theology and psychology and focuses on helping people discover and develop their strengths and spiritual gifts. She enjoys helping employees and clients of RiG to build social and spiritual capital.

People and the things that make them tick matter to Carin. Personal interest and making connections with people are considered some of her most important contributions to the business. Through her contribution, she emphasizes that stewardship entails much more than collecting and managing financial wealth.

Carin’s calling is to guide people spiritually. Above all, she loves being mom to their beautiful daughter and a wife to Willem. Together, they enjoy taking their dogs for long walks on the Oyster Bay beach.
